Welcome Year 11 students to the Oscar Wilde Webquest!
During the course of this webquest, you will research the writer Oscar Wilde, answer a worksheet, and compose an internal reflection, or diary entry, during a certain period in his life. You will then bring your reflections together in groups to form a journal of his life.
One of the main purposes of this webquest is to improve your first-person writing skills. You will still need to employ a wide vocabulary and a variety of literary techniques when writing, while keeping in mind the voice of the person in whose perspective you are writing in, your topic focus which is your chosen time period, and the style of a diary entry or reflection. This is practice for future exams where you may be asked to compose an imaginative response beyond constructing an essay, where you would still be expected to use sophisticated writing, literary techniques and possibly quotes from the texts studied. This webquest, in part, aims to show you that it is possible to write a first-person response, and still include all the features expected in a year 11 level piece of writing, while learning about an important author in Victorian literature.
